Bandung/ Indonesia
From September 23 to 28, 2019, five professors and lecturers from the Tourism University Bandung, Indonesia, visited us in the context of the Educational Management division.
Relevant for our guests from Bandung were, besides getting to know the destination Black Forest, the strategic adaptation of our own product range as well as the marketing to the international and European tourism market.
Of particular interest were topics concerning the changing consumer behaviour in tourism in times of new mobile technologies, apps and platforms.
In the course of a seminar, questions regarding sustainable tourism development and a responsible use of resources against the background of climate change were discussed. What happens when there is no more snow in the Black Forest? What could alternatives to ski tourism look like? Similar problems in Indonesia - slash-and-burn, drought, floods - were the reason for this topic.
A visit to the spa and health resort administration of Bad Krozingen focused on the interlocking of tourism and economy. The destination "Black Forest" was experienced during a trip to Titisee. Topics of an in-house seminar were e.g. "Adventure and Outdoor, you are what you experience", the change in the satisfaction of needs of European tourists as well as cross-border marketing and tourism cooperation in the border triangle, such as joint hiking trails, adventure trails or events.
After a guided tour through Freiburg, the group finally visited the exhibition centre and the municipal tourism department FWTM - Freiburg Wirtschaft Touristik und Messe GmbH & Co. KG. It was impressive for the guests from Bandung to experience Freiburg as a model destination for environmentally friendly mobility in (city) tourism with intelligent solutions and innovative concepts.
The event was the beginning of another series of study visits of Indonesian university guests to the ISW

ISW contributes to this project with its long and vast experience in the management of educational institutions and the development of curricula and intends to use the insights gained to possibly develop and implement own projects in growing markets within emerging and developing countries.
The sub-goals are:
- Market knowledge of Serbian vocational training
- Market analysis of company demands
- Part-adaptation of dual system
- Development of curricula
- A further sub-goal is to take legal issues and political wishes in Serbia into account. Among other things, one focus will be to enable graduates from vocational schools to proceed to the Serbian university system, i.e. accreditation of credit points
- Method and didactics
One can find a number of didactical and methodological examples of dual educations. However, there is no or hardly any experience relating to the educational programs aimed for in this project. We refer to the indispensable combination of theoretical learning fields with the company-based fields as well as the challenge of digital teaching / blended learning or the modularization of content which might have to be more geared towards further education than vocational training.
